Jon Setter (b. 1989, Detroit) is a photographer based in Sydney, Australia. He studied at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and graduated with an MFA from The National Art School, Sydney in 2018. He most recently completed his first solo exhibition with the Sydney Design Festival at Koskela Gallery, Sydney (2019) and has exhibited in numerous group shows across Australia and internationally including, New York, Tokyo and Berlin. He is passionate about documenting cities and architecture as a way of better making sense of them for himself and also to offer audiences an alternative perspective to what is typically available. This stems from being influenced by the New Topographic movement and Dusseldorf School of Photography. While the formal aesthetic in his work is drawn from modern painters like Rothko, and Mondrian. His work has been awarded prizes from Life Framer and the International Color Awards and was featured in Icon Magazine UK along with various other art publications online and in print.
