Photogram on gelatin silver paper
Signed, titled, and dated, in pencil, au verso -
Alison Rossiter (b. Jackson, Mississippi, 1953) has worked with the materials and processes of light-sensitive, gelatin-silver-based photography since 1970. The darkroom is essential to her work process, whether it involves traditional printing from negatives, drawing with flashlights, or making photograms. In 2003, while volunteering at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, an immersion into the field of photograph conservation led to a profound appreciation of the history of photographic materials. Rossiter resides in New Jersey and maintains a studio in New York City.
