Kristan Horton’s digitally altered photographic abstractions from his series, “Orbits”, layer both the necessary items and the detritus of everyday life to create a sort-of visual representation of entropy in action. The subtle humour of these artworks creeps up on the viewer as the items depicted - packing materials; shredded labels and junk mail; a vertiginous, seemingly bottomless box - come to feel increasingly relatable. When standing in front of these artworks, the precision of Horton’s digital compositions is exceptionally lush and crisp.
