Thurston Hopkins
Thurston Hopkins made his career working for Picture Post, a wildly popular and pioneering UK photojournalism magazine that ran between 1938 to 1957. The publication’s left-leaning stance appealed to Hopkins’ progressive ideals and gave him the freedom to explore wide-ranging subject matter, including subtle social commentary such as his photos of children playing in streets, which helped to accelerate the development of dedicated playgrounds in post-war England.
