Since 2007, John Latour has used found vintage photographs as source material for this photographic series. By applying flecks of white paint onto the surface of original photographs, he literally “blanks out” unidentified figures from tintypes and old snapshots from the turn of the century to the 1950s. This process of erasure points to the inevitable fading of all subjects over time.
