Otto Drese is a lesser known member of Otto Steinert’s Fotoform, West Germany’s preeminent avant-garde photography group of the 1950s-60s. Along with Drese, Fotoform members included Peter Keetman, Heinz Hajek-Halke, and Christer Strömholm.
Drese is best known for his highly emotive, abstract imagery of organic materials, as well as rigorous and detailed architectural photography. His photographs documenting the Palace of Benrath in Dusseldorf, and cathedral ornamentation of the Rhine Province, can be found in many publications of prominent and historical German architecture.
