Falls by Christina Leslie

Christina Leslie (b. 1983, Toronto, Canada) earned her BFA in 2006 at OCADU (Toronto). She is presently pursuing her MFA at SCAD in GA, USA. Leslie’s photographs have been featured at the following institutions: The National Film Board of Canada in Toronto, ON (2008); Oakland University, Detroit, MI (2008); Pier 21, Halifax, NS (2010 and 2013); Famu, Prague, Czech Republic (2009); Real Artways, Hartford, CT (2009); The Gladstone Hotel, Toronto, ON (2010); The Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, ON (2010); The Art Gallery of Windsor, ON (2017); The Glasgow Gallery of Photography, Scotland (2019); The Edmonton Radisson Airport Hotel, Edmonton, AB (2019); RAWartist Showcase, Toronto, ON (2019); and Caribbean Art Fair, Jamaica (2020).

Leslie was a panelist for the Position as Desired symposium at The Royal Ontario Museum in 2011 and was a panelist speaker at the 2010 SPE conference in Philadelphia. Her photographs have been featured extensively in publications; most recently in the UK magazine MURZE Issues Four, Ten, and Twelve (2019 and 2020). In April 2020, Leslie had two solo shows; a main exhibition at Toronto’s Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, and an outdoor exhibition that saw her photographs mounted as billboard at the Capture Festival, Vancouver, BC. Much of Leslie’s photographic practice revolves around themes of identity, immigration, issues of marginalization, memory, race and her West-Indian heritage.
