Gelatin silver print
Editioned and signed by John Maloof, in ink, au verso
Printed in 2012
Edition of 15 (#8/15)
Vivian Maier has become one of the more fascinating discoveries of the past 25 years. An avid photographer who apparently shared her photographs with no one, she was employed as a nanny from the 1950’s into the 1980’s which was a perfect occupation that presented subject matter, as well as time, to explore her craft. Unfortunately acclaim for her work came after her death, but the work of John Maloof and Jeffrey Goldstein has made her work available and despite her secrecy, she is one of the most talked about photographers.
PROVENANCE/This Print: This photograph was printed from a negative owned by John Maloof. It was traditionally printed in a wet darkroom and is from a limited edition of 15, This edition has sold out, so it is priced to match the value that number 15/15 would have sold for.
