  • Kristan Horton's multi-disciplinary practice includes sculpture, drawing, photography and video. Using layered processes of construction, both material and virtual, he has produced several long-term projects linked conceptually by their serial and episodic structure. Horton researches and creates his subjects in an intensive studio practice, ultimately realizing his artworks through inventive and experimental uses of digital technology.

Horton studied fine art at the University of Guelph and the Ontario College of Art and Design. He exhibits his work internationally and  resides in Toronto.

  • Kristan Horton’s digitally altered photographic abstractions from his series, “Orbits”, layer both the necessary items and the detritus of everyday life to create a sort-of visual representation of entropy in action. The subtle humour of these artworks creeps up on the viewer as the items depicted - packing materials; shredded labels and junk mail; a vertiginous, seemingly bottomless box - come to feel increasingly relatable. When standing in front of these artworks, the precision of Horton’s digital compositions is exceptionally lush and crisp.
